Aquila and Priscilla’s

Reflections on the First Gospel

Reflections on the Gospel of Mark hopefully will inspire and encourage its readers to strive to develop, with God’s grace, a personal relationship with the very person proclaimed by Mark in his Gospel, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Aquila and Priscilla’s Reflections on the First Gospel has two parts. In the first part, we are drawn into a relationship with an inspiring preacher, a powerful healer, and an awesome miracle worker, Jesus of Nazareth. Yet we note that no one seems to fully understand the true identity of Jesus, not even his closest disciples. Nevertheless, as the narrative unfolds, we become involved in the mystery of Jesus. And thus we start to comprehend what it means to be his follower, what it takes to become his disciple. The second half provides in detail the answer to the question that was raised in the first half, Who is Jesus? It describes Jesus’ destiny of suffering, death and resurrection. But despite witnessing Jesus’ passion and death, the disciples are still not able to fully understand his suffering messiahship.
